A Study on the Colposcopic Examination of Uterine Cervix

Abstract
This study was undertaken with thedesire to represent pictures of the uterine cervix, including benign and malignant conditions which were taken under the colposcopy, and to evaluate the accuracy of colposcopic examination in the diagnosis of cervicaldisease, especially in the early detection of carcinoma of the cervix.
Two hundred cases of colposcopic examination of the uterine cervix were carried out including 149 cases of normal or benign lesion of cervix, 9 cases of carcinoma in situ, 34 cases of squamous cell carcinoma of the cervix, 1 case of adenocarcinoma of the cervix,5 cases of tuberculous cervicitis and 2 cases of cervical myomq which were diagnosed with combined examinations.
One case. was colposcopically positive in the 149 cases of benign lesion of $the cervix. There were 2 cases of false negative on cytological smears in 44 cases of malignant leson, of the cervix in wich comparative studies were carried out for cytological smears and colposcopically directed biopsies.
Two cases of early carcinoma of the cervix were under-estimated for carcinoma in situ colposcopically.
An interesting and characteristic finding which was quite different from other benign or malignant lesion of the cervix could be observed in the tuberculous cervicitis.
